Chair asks IBO about data constraints
Brooks-Powers asks IBO to expand on data constraints. Armbruster says IBO cannot identify serious mental illness specifically in its data, nor substance use disorder or domestic violence histories, though those factors matter for programs and diversion.
Thank you for that.
You mentioned data constraints.
Can you expand on that?
What data do you need?
So I think in particular with this analysis, what we wanted to make clear is that this intersection of mental health needs and housing needs is not the only intersection that people should be aware of.
So something, for example, we don't look specifically at serious mental illness because in the data that we have available, we don't have a marker for that specifically.
So data limitations like that, similarly substance use disorder or a history of experience with domestic violence, those other factors that are often considered when
creating programs and diversion programs for these populations.
