Morano asks how missed appointments distinguish refusals from DOC failures
Morano asks whether the dashboard distinguishes patient refusals from DOC failure to produce. Boyd says refusals are recorded on body-worn camera and about 61% of all missed appointments were related to patient refusals, while Caputo says refusals are codified separately from court or other service absences.
Do we know, for instance, what percentage of missed mental health appointments this year were attributable to refusals versus the department?
I don't think I have that broken out by refusals for mental health appointments, but for the universe of appointments, about 61%
were related to PIC refusals, right?
And if an appointment's recorded as a refusal, does anyone ever go back and verify that that individual actually refused and wasn't simply unavailable because DOC couldn't move them?
So the way we codify the missed appointments, that category of refusal is one.
If an individual was out to court or if he was at another service, those are all different categories that we codify that under.
So it's not under the blanket of refusal if the individual was at a different service or out to court.
We don't codify it that way.
That's not a refusal.
Thank you, Chair.
Thank you very much.
