Branch explains geographic shifts in language demand
Branch says neighborhoods change, so program planning must respond to current community demand. She says a former Japanese dual-language community may now need a different language program.
I want to just piggyback off of my colleague and thinking about
what I mentioned earlier, the different considerations when it comes down to how we expand a program, one of those being the geographic makeup.
So if we were going to, you know, based on your example, this community once had this robust Japanese dual language program, and now you're feeling like it's dwindling, right?
If the family need or the demand isn't there, we got to consider our wonderful city neighborhoods change.
And if what was predominantly a Japanese neighborhood,
now has evolved into something else.
So then now we have to be responsive to that community and consider a dual language program that supports those families.
Well, I'll follow up about that individual school.
