Gutiérrez asks about funding for dual-language programs
Gutiérrez asks whether schools receive additional funding for dual-language programs and the per-school average. Phillips says ECE funding is per-seat, with about $30 million supporting dual-language programs and no separate ECE language allocation.
Do schools, and you spent some time kind of sharing with us how schools are supported when they take on a dual language program.
Do schools receive any additional funding specifically?
And if so, how much has been directly allocated to schools in this fiscal year?
And more or less, what is the average per school?
So for supporting our dual language learners and our emergent multilingual learners, we believe, again, that's a core responsibility for any of our programs.
And so what they are using is their per seat allocation, and they have the flexibility to design their programs in the way that best meets their needs.
Best meets the children and the families in their program.
For early childhood, there's no sort of designated or specific funding for, you know, additional things for dual language learners.
We are able to look at what the funding allocation is.
So for the dual language learning programs, it's about $30 million that is supporting the programs who are offering dual language learning.
I do believe there is additional funding.
On the K-12 side.
And Dr.
Garcia, can you talk a little bit about that?
So I'm so sorry, before Dr.
Garcia, just to clarify, there's no additional funding specific for a pre-K program or the 3K dual language?
No, it's based on the classrooms and their enrollment, not something specifically around the language.
And have you, okay, and have you found that schools...
Need more funding for the dual language pre-K?
We find that the schools...
Are they asking for it?
are using, they have flexibility to, you know, support their instruction and their staffing.
And it's something that we're continuing to, you know, monitor, listen to them and see how we can be responsive.
