Maloney asks how to ensure planning survives administration changes
Maloney notes the city knew about the World Cup four years in advance but administrations changed. She asks what safeguards can ensure planning continues for future predictable events even when administrations change.
One of the consistent themes is planning in advance.
The city broadly knew we had this four years in advance while administrations changed, but this is something we can predict will happen in the future.
What safeguards can we put in place to ensure that even if administrations change, that the city is still continuing to plan and work towards these events?
If you have any thoughts on how we could put systems in place.
It's a great question.
I really will also defer to our friends at agencies who I think probably have an interesting perspective there.
I think we really benefited from really dedicated public servants who helped with the transition and supported between administrations and kind of kept us up to date on the work that had been done and did a really smooth handoff.
So I want to express my gratitude there.
And I think, again, that level of professionalism and of these public servants made a huge difference in this.
And then...
Again, I think that the host committee as a body was really helpful in terms of continuity and being able to continue that coordination across.
And so I want to give them that shout out.
Defer to other folks on other lessons.
