Thomas-Henry asks how host committee procured from local and MWBE businesses
Thomas-Henry asks whether contracts required local or MWBE spending and what goods or services were procured. Lasry says any money given by New York was spent in New York City, but production companies often handled watch parties.
Did we require any type of local spending or MWBE spending within those contracts?
We made sure any money that was given to us by New York was spent in New York City.
Okay.
And how did you go about procuring, what types of goods or services were procured by the local businesses in the city?
I mean, those would have been for any of the watch parties that we put on.
So making sure that...
Like production equipment and...
Yeah.
You know, vendors at any of the watch parties.
But again, for us, and I think it's important to note, we really wanted to make sure that the host committee wasn't going to be...
The main source of wasn't going to be the only source or even the main source of economic impact, right?
That is not what the host committees as a as a spender was.
What we really wanted to do was plug into what was going into the city and amplify all of what the city was already doing to make sure that people who were coming here knew exactly where to go.
Right.
So it wasn't going to be, hey, we are throwing this one big watch party.
We want as much as we wanted as many people to come as possible, and they did.
We also wanted people to explore the city.
So you would come to our event in Queens, but then we really wanted you to go to bars, restaurants, et cetera, in the neighborhood.
And that was where we saw the real big economic impact.
