Thomas-Henry urges early planning and neighborhood promotion
Thomas-Henry tells the administration to consult small business partners, BIDs, and chambers and start planning now for 2028. She says tourism should promote neighborhoods like Mott Haven and Corona year-round, not just during the World Cup.
Before I turn it over to my colleague, you asked for recommendations from the
Small business side, consult our small business partners, our bids, our chambers, and the like.
Start planning now.
2028 to be here before we know it.
And for tourism, I think the World Cup showed us that, well, no, we know New York is a dynamic city in all five boroughs.
I'd argue that a lot of visitors and the, from Mott Haven to Corona, all the activity in those corridors are something for people to experience anytime, not just when they're coming in town for the World Cup.
When Ecuador beat Germany, Junction Boulevard in my district was one of the hottest places to be.
So when you're promoting New York City to travelers, promote our neighborhoods.
They're there.
They're bustling.
They're thriving.
And we need that economic activity to sustain our small businesses.
And with that, I'll turn it over to Councilmember Banks for questions.
