Gennaro discusses storm surge as primary risk and BCR's role
Gennaro says he has long viewed storm surge as the major threat and wants BCR to be the boss of coastal resiliency. He jokes about BCR becoming the 'Death Star' of resilience in a good way.
Yeah, because I always wanted, you know, resiliency to, you know, proceed.
And, you know, back in.
Before I did that bill, now law, in 2012, I'm like, there's going to be, I didn't know its name was going to be Sandy, but this is going to happen.
I've always, not that I'm poo-pooing sea level rise, but I always thought that storm surge is...
You know, is the big boogeyman and, you know, that could wipe us out tomorrow.
Whereas, you know, Storm Love Arise, you know, I'm not going to live to see it.
You know, I mean,
to that extent.
But, you know, it's huge.
And, you know, what we should do is in a measured, calculated way where everything is figured out in advance and how do we fund it.
And now some of the pieces are, you know, coming together.
And I think this is the capstone on that to, you know, establish you folks as like, you know, the boss of coastal resiliency.
And, you know, everybody's got to come to you, talk to you, whatever.
And, you know.
It's a bad analogy, but...
I was looking at a Star Wars reference that doesn't quite fit here, so I'm not going to use it.
But, you know, you...
Okay, okay, you guys are going to be like the Death Star of resilience, but in a good way, in a good Death Star, if you can imagine that.
So they'll, you know, paint it blue or something like that.
Yes, okay.
There it is.
I said it.
