Santosuosso asks about insurance costs as barrier
Santosuosso asks whether general liability insurance costs prevent organizations from applying. Cerrone says insurance applies to less than 5% of permits, usually larger events, and coverage decisions are made with the Law Department.
I'm happy to hear that about this sort of roadshow approach that I didn't know existed.
Have you ever partnered with council members'offices to sort of like sit in the offices and then have organizations come that regularly apply for permits to go through that with you?
I believe that we notified council members when we're doing it, and I know that...
Some of my colleagues earlier this year did one for the Queens Borough President, for Borough President Mitchell.
But we are happy to partner with your office or others to amplify the message and get the word out.
It can't be the only one.
I'm sure I'm looking at my colleagues.
I'm like, organizations that regularly hold events come to us almost every year going, will you help us apply for a permit?
So it sort of indicates to me that maybe a model where, I mean, obviously with limited time and
limited resources, a model where you all were to come to our offices and there could be organizations that could have appointments just to sit with you and go through it themselves and kind of learn how to do it so that, you know, they could do it themselves as opposed to coming to our offices would be something.
We would be happy to do it.
It would be, logistically, it would be helpful if you would work with us to help them know, get the word out, and then perhaps do one meeting where, like, you know, we present the process and then they can ask questions and
we will answer them.
