Commissioner Flynn testifies on Intro 986 (dynamometers)
Flynn supports the intent of Intro 986 requiring dynamometers to test micromobility devices, but notes concerns about equity and implementation, deferring to DCWP.
Next, Intro 986, sponsored by Chair Abreu.
This bill would require the use of micromobility dynamometers to test micromobility devices operating in the city, followed by a report of data gathered through the testing.
We support the bill's intent to ensure all riders use safe, compliant devices.
We're interested in testing any technology that can help increase the use of safe devices on our streets.
At the same time, we've heard concerns about equity and implementation.
We would defer to DCWP on those concerns.
We look forward to working with Council and the MYP to...
to develop best practices for implementation.
