Q&A

Shulman asks about flood mitigation for large building

New York City Council · Oct 6, 2026 · starts 1:07:33 · 30 sec

Shulman asks about flood mitigation; Chris Fogarty says new rules require retaining all roof water and releasing it slowly into the system.

Lynn C. Schulman

And what are you doing in terms of...

Lynn C. Schulman

of, again, the flood mitigation and all of that because it's a huge building.

Member of the Public - Rachel Loeb

I'm going to let Chris answer that question as the architect.

Member of the Public - Chris Fogarty

My answer is similar to the last architect's, which is the new rules mean that we retain all the water, unlike today.

Member of the Public - Chris Fogarty

It's the same amount of roof, but if they don't retain it, we will.

And then it drips back into the system over time.
