Brewer questions DCWP on improving the pedicab industry
Brewer asks Ortiz for specific suggestions to improve the industry, including electric, timing, and pricing issues. Ortiz says meters and rates could improve pricing clarity and level the playing field for consumers and businesses.
All right, thank you, Councilmember Wilson.
Now we're going to go to Councilmember Brewer and then Councilmember Hanks.
Thank you.
Danielle, you need to fill out a form.
Whoever's here from Midtown, I can see you.
You need to fill out a form.
A couple questions for Carlos, the great Carlos Diaz.
What if you, I mean, in some cases you stated this.
PD can decide, somebody else can decide.
How do you suggest other than, you know, because it's not TLC yet.
I hope it is.
How do you suggest this industry be improved?
What would be some specific suggestions that you would make?
I mean, we've got electric issues, we've got timing issues, we've got...
All the topics that I think were covered in some of this legislation.
What would you do specifically to improve this industry?
I think, and I can speak from my own personal experience as well, I think the pricing- You take a pedicab too?
I've taken a pedicab.
Oh, good.
And the pricing definitely impacted me.
And I think that some of the legislation, for example, today related to meters and rates, I think could be a vast improvement on the industry as well.
So I think it's just the consumer side of things.
It ensures clarity.
It ensures that we're all operating on the same level playing field.
I think that would be a big help to the industry.
When you say level playing field, what do you mean?
What does that mean?
I mean, I liked, I mean, what do I mean?
I mean that it's good for a consumer and a business to have the same understanding of what the outcome of a transaction is going to be.
And a meter could facilitate that or rates could facilitate that.
I think it's also important from business to business as well, that they have a mutual understanding of what's going to happen when a transaction with a consumer occurs.
So that's what I would like to elaborate on, leveling the playing field.
