Narcisse asks which agencies and titles lose the most employees
Narcisse cites resignations rising from 71% of departures in FY24 to over 80% in FY25 and asks which agencies and titles are losing people and where they go; Outar cites social services and uniform titles and career growth concerns.
Because I feel like I stay, I'm being honest, I went to Elmhurst Hospital for a few years.
I ended up staying there for 10 years because the environment, the things that they offer me, and the things that we get when we ask in the department, there's certain things that we need to know.
So at least we can keep our staffing in one place.
Resignations went from 71% of departure in FY24 to over 80% in FY25.
Which agencies and...
Titles are losing the most people.
And do you know where they are going?
Why are they leaving?
So the resignation may increase, and it depends on the titles.
We may see resignation in some of our social services titles, some of our uniform titles.
It varies based on the agencies.
From our citywide exit survey, we can see that folks are leaving because they perceive that there isn't a path for career growth or some sites of personal reasons.
Others may say that they are looking for compensation and benefits.
And so what we are looking to do in terms of reflection is to make sure that we're providing agencies and employees with information about how individuals can move throughout the civil service system and use it as a pathway for growth.
And also making sure that employees not only know that the process exists, but allowing them the space to engage with it.
One of the things that we haven't spoken about is career counselors.
Agencies, most agencies have career counselors who are meeting with their employees to talk through some of the opportunities to help guide them in terms of how they can look at other opportunities that are available to them.
And the goal is if an employee is moving to another agency for status plus, because we're still maintaining that knowledge, and we're still able to have that person that's serving the public.
