Porter reports on employee viewpoint and exit surveys
Porter describes the first citywide employee viewpoint survey under Local Law 76, with over 16,000 respondents and 78% feeling respected, and the second-year exit survey report where 11 of 14 categories received mostly positive ratings.
With a workforce as vast as ours, building a culture across dozens of agencies can look very differently.
Our priority remains cultivating a citywide culture built on the principles of equity, inclusion, accessibility,
respect and excellence.
As part of the activation of Local Law 76 of 2004, DCAS, 2024, excuse me, DCAS launched the first ever citywide employee viewpoint survey.
This first of its kind effort was modeled after the federal government's similarly named survey and provides the city with important insights into employee sentiments around a variety of topics.
With over 16,000 employees taking the voluntary survey, DCAS was able to learn about employee viewpoints around their work, management, work-life balance, modernization, and retention efforts.
It was heartening to learn that the majority of employees who took the survey, nearly 78%, feel respected in their workplace.
As we continue to foster a culture of inclusion and transparency, DCAS has also launched exit surveys and interviews.
Now in its second year, the fiscal year 25 report shows that employees overall have positive experiences in their workplace.
11 out of the 14 categories received mostly positive ratings, indicating that employees felt positive about their overall work experience.
The top five categories were related to work environment, teamwork and collaboration, leadership and supervision, communication, and equity and inclusion.
