Dinowitz calls for CUNY-DOE meeting on credit pathways
Dinowitz describes a symbiotic relationship where DOE shows what it is doing and CUNY says what it needs. He asks for a meeting on the calendar, and Veve agrees.
I mean, it is a real symbiotic relationship.
The DOE is saying, here's what we're doing, and CUNY should be saying, hey, here's additionally what we need, not just for college credit, by the way, but what we need our high school students to be, the skills we need them to graduate with.
And those are conversations I think you have.
And the seal of civic readiness should absolutely be part of it because the ultimate goal is to make sure students who are doing this rigorous work with vetted projects.
With audited outputs from the DOE, the ultimate goal is for them to get the credit for the work that they're already doing.
Can we, can we,
Get a meeting on the calendar.
Can we do, you have your peoples here.
Yes, we can absolutely have a meeting.
Okay, because that was one of the hurdles that you mentioned in your testimony.
And so obviously, to me, it seems that meeting about the projects and the work the students are doing is, to me, the obvious next step.
Happy to participate in that meeting, but we do have a lot of CUNY and DOE people here as well.
