Joseph asks how DOE measures success and uses student feedback
Joseph asks how DOE measures success and whether students give feedback on projects. Veve says success is measured by access and schools refine projects based on student and district learning.
So I'm hearing a lot of turnkey.
We learn from each other to make sure that we're keeping the financial.
How do you measure the success?
How do you do?
Is there surveys at the end of the projects?
How do students give feedback if, let's say, the project is not working or they don't like what you're offering?
How is their voice used in shaping this project?
So I think first is we're measuring our success through access, right?
We talked about expansion.
Are we including all students in this?
We're working towards that.
And then I think at each school, that is their work to refine the project.
Because I think, again, just remembering that the seal is flexible in design and in purpose, right?
And that just because you did the seal exactly one way last year, the idea is that you could refine that, right, based on whether you hear that from students in your school
or like Superintendent, too, is talking about you've learned something from your colleagues in your district or even you've learned outside of your district.
I think that is one of the other benefits of the seal is.
While it is flexible in design by individual school and district, the construct of it is the same, and so that I can adapt what's going on in one school to the next, to the next, and then
make it better each year and learn from it.
And any of those datas are used to drive?
Perfecting the program.
I hear expansion, but I also want to hear outreach.
I want to hear partnership.
I want to hear agencies are talking to each other.
Folks don't like to talk to each other.
I find that very weird.
I'm an educator.
Teachers talk all day long to each other.
But I'm finding that institutions and agencies in the city are horrible at doing that.
And I'm hoping that CUNY and New York City public schools reach out and have that conversation around how can we perfect it.
And New York City public school is handing over their students and they're coming prepared to you.
