Joseph asks whether Seal can substitute for Regents exam

New York City Council · Oct 20, 2026 · starts 1:38:41 · 35 sec

Joseph asks whether the Seal can substitute for a Regents exam. Chris Kermiet-Hall says it can substitute for the fifth Regents exam as a graduation pathway if students have ELA, math, social studies, and science.

Rita C. Joseph

I had another question around, can the civic be substituted for a regent?

Rita C. Joseph

In lieu of a regent, you can do the civic readiness seal instead.

Chris Kermiet-Hall

Yeah, so it's a graduation pathway, so it can substitute for the fifth regent's exam, assuming you have one ELA, one math, one social studies, and one science.

Rita C. Joseph

You hear that?

Rita C. Joseph

But the regents are going away soon.

Rita C. Joseph

Bye-bye, regents.

Rita C. Joseph

Good riddance.

Rita C. Joseph

I don't know.

Rita C. Joseph

The parents are going to come for you.
