Narcisse urges collaboration with Black Institute and Haitian community
Narcisse asks whether DOE collaborates with the Black Institute and says Haitian and Black students need to feel important amid attacks. She urges DOE to encourage that work.
One of the things that I see chair, Black Institute, have we collaborate with them because they're actually pushing a lot for our youth in the city of New York.
I do not like to push for one particular area, but I think we at a challenging time where our kids, just like any other group in America right now, and I don't know
if you know about the Haitian being attacked specifically, we're not going in the right direction when it comes to that.
And our children need to feel, and especially for us, like we old people, we all right.
But the younger one in the high school, in the middle school, need to know that they are important.
And what is black?
history mean?
What does a Black person mean?
And I think that would be a good thing to, because we all part, we know we go into different challenges.
Sometimes it can be Chinese, it can be Japan, it can be, but right now it happened to be Haitian and other Black folks.
So I think we have to be mindful and try to encourage that.
That would be very appreciative to me on my part.
Thank you, Chair.
