Regan says $1 million in federal funding was fully used for camera systems at Whitehall; DOT will apply for future port security grants.

Shaun Abreu

In 2024, DOT secured $1 million in federal funding to upgrade outdated security systems at Staten Island ferry terminals.

Shaun Abreu

How much of that funding has been used?

John Regan

All of it.

Shaun Abreu

Where have the upgrades been made?

John Regan

To the camera systems.

Shaun Abreu

Any specific locations?

John Regan

2024, I believe, was the Whitehall Ferry Terminal.

Shaun Abreu

What impacts have you seen as a result of these upgrades?

John Regan

Improved video surveillance, which also obviously helps 24-7 operations with the terminals.

Shaun Abreu

Is there a, will the admin be seeking additional funding for these kind of upgrades?

John Regan

As long as the federal government is issuing port security grant funding, we will always try to apply for any applications that are available at the moment.

John Regan

Currently, no.
