Brooks-Powers asks about Rockaway discount use and outreach
Wong says the discount fare rose only $0.05 to $1.50; there are 30,000 discount participants overall; EDC does outreach through the app and community partners.
And my last question for you is the fare went up to $5 this week.
How many Rockaway riders use the discount, and how are you reaching New Yorkers who can benefit from the discount?
Thank you for the question.
And I think it's, yeah, the single trip did go from $450 to $500.
The discount trip went from $145 to $150, so a much smaller increase, which we think is important.
It's part of our approach to the fare policy.
I don't have Rockaway-specific numbers.
I know that we have about 30,000 participants in the discount program overall, and our goal is to increase that.
We want people to know about it.
We look to partner with council members and community groups.
We have a large outreach team through the app.
operator to try and get people to know about NYC Ferry and the discount program.
So we're doing our best to get the word out, but of course, welcome partnership wherever we can.
Absolutely.
Any community event I have you, feel free to have your folks table to provide information on that too.
We welcome that.
Thank you, chairs, and I look forward to continuing the conversation as you all.
Reimagine what the ferry system and connections can look like and I'm glad to know that the eastern part of the Rockaways is a part of the discussion.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
