Farias asks about Rockaway Rocket pilot and comprehensive plan
Farias asks how seasonal pilots inform long-term landings; Wong says Rockaway Rocket continues and the optimization added a year-round one-seat ride.
And just in my last minute of questioning that I have,
What was looked at for the Rockaway Rocket pilot opportunity, and how is...
that if at all being included in looking at the larger comprehensive plan on landings and where there's short-term seasonal opportunity that can then maybe over time, like we've seen with the Rockaway rocket,
transition into a long-term standing ferry landing.
Yeah, the Rockaway Rocket was a pilot that we continue to operate because we continue to see demand for a very limited number of trips from places in Queens and its Long Island City and Greenpoint.
And that provides some direct access to the Rockaways, whereas the route that we actually extended through the optimization allowed for regular full-time service all year round.
So that if you're in the Bronx or the Upper East Side, you can have a one-seat ride all the way to the Rockaways, and that's year-round.
So it shows us that people are trying to go to the Rockaways, and it gives us opportunities to serve them in different ways.
I guess just in the entrance of time that...
I'm more so looking at all of the bills that are in front of you folks over many years.
We've been through this our fifth year together on this committee, looking at the different areas in the city of New York where people see landings as desirable, despite feasibility or not.
New Yorkers are asking for their neighborhoods on the waterfront to be seen as a place where they can either have another commuting option, a commercial booster,
seasonal commercial booster.
I'm just wondering when we're looking at our long-term comprehensive plan on landings in priority order or
you know, in the order of interest, whether it's economic or transportation justice related or not, how are we ensuring that we're using multiple options on getting New Yorkers accessibility throughout the city of New York?
I think the vision plan genuinely is the way that we're going to achieve the exact goal that you're talking about, which is to say, let's not just look at it one way.
Let's not just look at the previous studies we've done before and try and take a more open approach to these.
So that's what we're working on and plan to deliver by next summer.
And we'll have a lot more to say as we go through that process.
One last question, Chair.
Are we going to stay on time since we're late already on this plan?
I'm sorry?
Are we going to be on time for 2027 since the plan's already late?
That is our intention to deliver this by summer.
All right, I'm going to hold you to it.
Thank you, Chairs.
