Maloney asks about accessibility investments on NYC Ferry
Wong says the system was built 100% accessible with bow loaders and wheelchair spaces; EDC is exploring striping, accessible ticket machines, and additional tie-downs.
I wanted to also ask about accessibility on the New York City Ferry systems and what investments you've been making there.
Thank you.
Yeah, accessibility is incredibly important to NYC Ferry.
We built the system from the ground up trying to build a fully 100% accessible system.
And we have all of our landings, every new landing that we've built has automatic bow loaders to ensure that there's level boarding across the system.
There's all of our vessels have spaces for people using wheelchairs, walkers, or scooters.
You know, we have all the certainly necessary pieces for that, but we're also trying to do more.
Recently, we've been exploring new striping plans on our landings to improve the visual lines.
on the exterior of landing so that people with visual disabilities know where the edge is and where to be.
We're also procuring new ticketing machines, which are designed to be more accessible than the ones that we have today.
And finally, we've been approached in the past at looking at additional ways to improve the accessible spaces on board vessels with additional tie down points.
And that's something we are looking into.
