Ariola opens hearing on ambulance response times and Intro 990
Chair Joann Ariola calls the joint oversight hearing to order, acknowledges members present and co-chair Mercedes Narcisse, and states the committees will examine ambulance response times and Intro 990. She explains the bill would use Notify NYC to alert residents to extended ambulance wait times.
Good morning.
My name is Joanne Areola and I am chair to the Fire and Emergency Management Committee.
I would like to begin by acknowledging council members who are here today, Council Members Shulman and Palladino.
I would also like to thank Chair Mercedes Narcisse for co-chairing today's hearing with me.
Today, the Committee on Fire and Emergency Management, along with the Committee on Hospitals, will once again be holding an essential oversight hearing on ambulance response times
and discussing Intro 990, a bill I introduced that would require NYC to alert New Yorkers through the Notify NYC system of extended wait times for an ambulance.
