David Sucher supports Intro 11 and opposes 561
Sucher says he supports higher fines and opposes 561. He suggests rental companies rewrite contracts to pass idling fines to customers and urges the Council to direct some revenue back to DEP staffing.
Yes, and sorry, just getting home from work.
David Sucher here.
I just want to vote my support for Intro 11.
I'm very against 561.
I don't think anything can really be saved there.
There is a lot of agreement with the busing industry and the trucking industry regarding due process.
Smarter people can talk about how to automate, how to get them notices early.
But I also hear a lot of...
Concerns from the industry that I think are a result from bad contracts from Edge.
I'm sorry, rewrite your contracts so they include, just like you've included for red light fines, they include idling fines.
Easy peasy.
Other things, you know, let's encourage the program.
Let's get people changed.
Smaller companies to the newer fridge trucks.
They don't have to be on.
Use some of those funds from that.
And, you know, frankly, a lot of the funds, as far as I know, Councilmember, or Chair, sorry, it all goes to kind of the city general fund.
Why can't we recapture a little bit of that to go back to DEP to get them the person power?
To make this program thrive.
You champion clean water, keep championing clean air.
Don't let these bus companies who don't want to do work
put their workers in jeopardy because they don't install generators in the winter, off the hook.
And frankly, that's why we see FedEx, UPS, they don't idle anymore.
The other ones they do because they don't like their workers.
And that's all.
Okay.
Thank you very much for your testimony.
We appreciate it.
The next witness, Chris Hartman.
Sarge, you want to prompt him to start?
You may be getting it, Chris.
Okay, it doesn't seem like he's there.
I'm going to take the paper now.
Okay.
If we inadvertently missed anyone who registered to testify today and is yet to be called, please use this.
Oh, pardon?
Okay, so we got a raised hand here.
Is this, what's his name?
Hartman?
Chris Hartman?
You may begin.
Yeah.
Mr.
Hartman, we're ready to hear your testimony.
Maybe I have a sound issue with you.
