Brewer asks what programs are needed; Goodwin cites employment, mental health, housing
Brewer asks what kinds of programs DOP needs or whether existing programs need more capacity. Goodwin says DOP is reassessing and identifies employment, mental health and behavioral health, and housing as main components, and is mapping available resources.
Are you finding that there are sufficient alternatives?
Because these young people need a lot of support.
We are looking at the programs that we are utilizing now, and in fact, I'm convening a meeting
in the coming weeks with other community-based organizations to talk about programming
and talking about availability and what they have, and is there any way that probation may be helpful in terms of extending or providing them with resources.
They can take more people.
So right now, within the two weeks, under Andy, Annie Minguez, we're going to work together to look at that at probation.
So what kind of programs do you think you need, or is it just more capacity in the programs that are there?
You have some very, you know, even when you're doing intensive, like you talked about with some of the young people, they may not have a place to live.
etc.
It's not like even a program can help.
