Chair asks about using wage data to compete; Goodwin says HR tracks retirements and hiring
Brooks-Powers asks whether DOP uses data to compare wages with other law enforcement agencies and make the case for higher entry-level pay. Goodwin says her HR director tracks retention, projected retirements, and hiring needs to stay balanced.
I'd like to acknowledge we've been joined by Councilmember Caban as well.
Well, just staying in line with this, because there are certain, I feel like, jobs in New York City that, you know,
deserve a lot more in terms of their wages.
And I'm curious, now that you're looking at using different metrics and data, as it pertains to wages for probation officers to attract more talent,
Have you begun using data to, I guess, compare and contrast to other law enforcement agencies that you're in competition with to present and
make the case for higher wages for the entry-level folks coming in?
We are looking at that.
You know, my HR director is constantly looking at our retention, who's like set to retire, and also making sure that we are matching the
possible people who are going to retire that we're matching it that we are hiring even more so we can stay balanced so yes we are looking at what those numbers are looking like in terms of who's
projected to leave and who what we need to do to make sure we stay on course.
