Banks raises Boulevard Houses gap in services after RAD/PACT
Banks says Boulevard Houses had a gap of about a year and a half outside its center, with services moved to an apartment. He asks what NYCHA is doing to assist community entities in getting services back and what conversations are happening with the RAD/PACT partner. Trimble says they are not forgotten and work to ensure continuity, but relocations may be needed during modernization.
Boulevard Houses went through a long gap, I think close to two years of being, about a year and a half probably, of being outside their center.
There was a gap in services there because the location where, and this is not a DIFTA funded program, but nevertheless it's under RADPAC.
The services where they were moved to, or the building that they were moved to, obviously it was an apartment.
In a situation like that, what is NITRA doing to assist those particular entities that's in the community?
community center to get the services back?
What's the conversation with the Rad Pack partner?
What's going on?
Because sometimes it feels as though they're just forgotten about.
No, they're definitely not forgotten about.
Our intent is always to ensure continuity of services and programs, whether it's a senior center or another community facility.
There are situations where we have to have a relocation or a break-in service in order to do the important modernization work that the buildings are undergoing.
So if we're replacing full plumbing, electricity, things like that, we may have to shut down services to a building, and that would involve relocating a program during that construction period.
When we are relocating a program, we are working closely with the city agency, whether it's NYC Aging or DIFTA,
and the providers to identify alternative locations for that program to make sure that the residents are still able to benefit from it during the construction period.
