Farías asks about mental health services split by borough
Farías asks about DFTA's mental health initiative in over 80 OACs and wants the split among boroughs and how many are in the Bronx. McKenzie says she will get back on the Bronx split. She describes on-site services, a hub-and-spoke model, virtual services, and mobile options for sites without space.
So through DIFTA's mental health initiative, we know that over 80 AOCs in New York City offer on-site and virtual mental health services.
Could you provide some information on where the split of those 80 OACs are amongst the five boroughs and how many are located in the Bronx?
I'll have to get back to you on the split of how many are located within the Bronx.
But I would say that, yes, it is another area that we're looking at to enhance geriatric mental health services.
Obviously, the sites that can have a center on site or provide those services on site are moving forward with that.
But we do know that based on some of the requirements for this specific space, we will not be able to provide some of those services on site.
So where that's not possible, we do have a hub-and-spoke model where we make sure that folks that are located in areas that may not have an on-site center can access services through nearby
services at other sites, or they can receive those services virtually.
And we also provide supplemental service through Aging Connect at NYC Aging.
And one of the things that we're exploring is also looking at what we can do mobily, especially for those sites that will never be able to have an on-site
care program because of the constraints of space or privacy and so on.
So we are exploring that option as well because it might be something that I think could add to the services that are being provided to a...
allow an older adult to be able to access a service at that trusted space, but in a private space somewhere nearby.
