Farías asks about transportation for Throgs Neck seniors to other centers
Farías says other senior centers are closer but not run by JASA, and asks if Throgs Neck seniors can go to Northeast Bronx Senior Center. McKenzie says any OAC participant can attend any of the 308 programs citywide. Farías notes JASA only transports to Co-op City, and McKenzie says NYC Aging will look into other transportation options.
Back to the senior center in Throgs Neck.
There are other senior centers that are closer, but they're not run by JASA.
Is there any way?
To allow for those seniors to go to like Northeast Bronx
Senior Center, which is located right on Bruckner Boulevard, not far from, I mean it's far, but not as far as Co-op City, and it's a little easier to get to.
Any one of our OAC participants can attend any one of our programs, any one of the 308 throughout the city.
They may opt to stay with JASA, but if they don't, they can go to any one of the centers and receive the same service.
Okay.
Because JASA is only offering to transport them to Co-op City where their other site is, or I believe GLEEB.
Maybe JASA as well, but Co-op City is the one that they're transporting people to.
It's something that we'll look into to see if there's some other services we can provide to ensure that older adults get to the centers they prefer.
Yeah.
Thank you.
I would like to follow.
I'll go up with you on that.
