Zhuang asks about expanding OACs in NYCHA facilities
Zhuang asks if there is a plan to expand the number of OACs within NYCHA facilities as the older adult population grows. McKenzie says NYC Aging has looked at where older adults reside and provided heat maps to council partners. The new RFP process will help identify needs and potential new centers, but nothing is determined yet.
And as the older adults population in New York City growing significantly, is there any plan for expanding the number of older adults center within NYCHA facility?
Well, we have looked at where our older adults are now residing.
Obviously, there's been a lot of change, and NYC Aging did provide heat maps to our council partners to advise them of where we've seen some of the migration of older adults.
And so obviously with this new RFP process, we will be able to look at where the needs are, who's interested in serving the increased population in those areas, and there could potentially be new.
centers and OACs at NITRA facilities, but we don't know that yet.
