Zhuang asks about services provided in NYCHA OACs
Zhuang asks what services NYC Aging provides in those locations. McKenzie says many services are provided. She elaborates on food surveys and town halls, noting older adults have given feedback on plant-based meals. Brooklyn's food town hall is scheduled for tomorrow.
Any service you guys provide in those locations?
In the OACs?
Yes.
Many, many, many services.
Surveys, surveys.
There are some surveys that we do conduct.
And again, I'm trying to get at the root of the specificity because obviously there's surveys pertaining to food and programs.
So I don't know if there's anything specific that you're looking for, but we'd be willing to share, obviously, what we've seen.
I'll talk a little bit about what we've done recently with the surveys for food, because obviously we've had a lot of feedback from older adults about some of the meals, and some of them are not as pleased right now, we know, with the plant-based meals and so on.
So we've been talking with them across the city.
In fact, we've conducted food town halls in every borough so far except Brooklyn.
Brooklyn is tomorrow.
But we've received some really, really robust feedback.
As we know, older adults are very vocal and they're not shy.
So they've shared their thoughts about our new recipes that we're proposing because at each one of these food town halls, we've also provided taste tests and samples for older adults to try.
And we've had some real-time surveys right at the site.
So we've been able to share with the older adults, too, what they've said about some of these meals.
So we like to, and I think many of you know, have a very collaborative stance when it comes to our older New Yorkers.
We like to.
to get their feedback and to be able to provide them with services that not only meet but hopefully exceed their expectations.
So those are the types of surveys that NYC Aging conducts.
