Chair Farías asks whether BOC rules cover infant clothing in nursery
Farías asks whether BOC rules adequately cover infant clothing and materials for children in the nursery. Cintron Hernandez says the rules do not address this and there is a gap in minimum standards that should be fixed.
After the hearing, just my last question.
The board's rules require that clothing be provided to people in custody, but does not explicitly mention children who may be living with the incarcerated parent as part of the nursery program.
Do you think the rules adequately cover the necessary infant clothing and materials needed for the children that are with their parent in custody?
I can confirm that the rules don't go into that.
I think there's definitely space to include that information, particularly in our Chapter 3, where we speak about pregnancy and postpartum care to ensure that any children who are in custody do have adequate clothing.
So that is definitely a gap in our minimum standards that should be addressed.
Okay.
Thank you for that.
I don't have any additional questions, Chair.
