Chair Farías questions DOC on doula service frequency and staffing

New York City Council · Oct 27, 2026 · starts 0:31:29 · 59 sec

Farías asks whether DOC follows the administrative code minimum of twice-weekly doula services for four hours with two doulas. Greysock says the Caribbean Women's Health Association is on site at least twice weekly for four hours.

Amanda C. Farías

Okay, and then in terms of the administrative code requiring that doula services be provided,

Amanda C. Farías

at a frequency of at least twice a week for four hours with at least two doulas available.

Amanda C. Farías

Does DOC follow this minimum or does it provide greater access to doula services than that?

Valerie Greysock

Thank you for your question.

Valerie Greysock

Yes, we have a wonderful partnership with the Women's Caribbean Health Association, and they are at Rosen Singer at least twice a week for four hours each day.

Amanda C. Farías

Okay, and how many doulas currently provide services to people in custody at DOC?

Valerie Greysock

Two doulas.

Amanda C. Farías

Two doulas.

Amanda C. Farías

And just give me there how many days per week they're available, usual hours of availability.

Valerie Greysock

They're typically on site twice a week for at least four hours, sometimes longer.

Amanda C. Farías

Okay.
