DOC Assistant Commissioner Valerie Greysock introduces DOC role
Valerie Greysock identifies herself as Assistant Commissioner in the Division of Programs and Community Partnerships. She says CHS provides medical and mental health care while DOC facilitates access through appointments, transportation, referrals, and accommodations.
Good morning, Chair Brooks Powers and Chair Fadillas and members of the committees.
My name is Valerie Graysock and I'm an Assistant Commissioner within the Division of Programs and Community Partnerships.
Thank you for the opportunity to discuss the New York City Department of Corrections support for pregnant and postpartum women in our care.
As our colleagues at Correctional Health Services have described, CHS provides medical and mental health care within the jails, while DOC facilitates access to that care through appointments, transportation, referrals, and necessary accommodations.
Our responsibility also includes supporting individuals in our care
as they prepare for childbirth, recover following pregnancy outcome, and care for their children.
