Long on emergency department impact and staffing up
Long says primary care and emergency departments will be the first areas affected by coverage disruptions, with patients worried about losing their doctor turning to the ED. He says H&H is staffing up and monitoring numbers closely.
Your third question, which I'll just answer briefly, is more of a follow-up.
You asked about the effect on the ED and what we're going to see with the ED as these changes happen.
The first two areas of health care that are going to be affected by this magnitude of, I'll quote Sharon Arcecian, coverage disruptions are going to be primary care.
People are going to be worried about losing their doctor.
And the ED, people are then going to go to the emergency department.
So our ED colleagues are very aware of this, and we have laser focus on looking at the numbers to see any changes that we see, both in primary care and the ED.
And we're going to be getting ready.
We're staffing up, making sure our teams are ready, aware, so we are prepared.
Thank you so much.
The chair is going to be gracious to ask my last two questions because I have to hop on the train.
But thank you, chair.
No problem.
My pleasure.
I might as well go to my colleagues there because they have seen next.
