Q&A

Long on offering telehealth and one million virtual visits

New York City Council · Oct 28, 2026 · starts 0:47:58 · 43 sec

Long says he offers every patient the choice of in-person or telehealth visits and that one or two patients per clinic prefer to follow up from work. He notes H&H completed about a million telehealth visits coming out of COVID.

Dr. Ted Long

Yeah.

Dr. Ted Long

Well, I mean, on that one, I can give you a much more clear answer.

Dr. Ted Long

So, I mean, I live this every week in clinic.

Dr. Ted Long

So whenever my patients are being brought back to the clinic, I offer them, do you want to see me in person?

Dr. Ted Long

Or I literally say exactly what you just said.

Dr. Ted Long

I know you've worked.

Dr. Ted Long

I know what your job is.

Dr. Ted Long

Do you want to just talk by phone or talk on your phone?

Dr. Ted Long

And, yeah, I'd say probably every clinic, one or two of my patients would prefer to follow up from work.

Dr. Ted Long

I can see their work in the background and to have a telehealth visit with me.

Dr. Ted Long

It used to be more, especially as Chair Narcisse was saying, coming out of COVID, we completed about a million telehealth visits.

Dr. Ted Long

So we actually, the jury was out a little bit about how people were going to prefer to get care.

Dr. Ted Long

And it's turned out to be, we can pull the exact statistics.
