Narcisse asks what share of applicants complete enrollment; Jimenez on barriers
Narcisse asks what percentage of applicants complete enrollment and the most common reasons they don't. Jimenez says 90% of uninsured patients have gone through insurance screening, and cites missing documents and need for extra support as barriers.
What percentage of individuals who begin the enrollment process successfully completed, and what are the most common reasons applicants do not ultimately enroll?
Do you have a percentage?
We don't have the percentage, but we know that many folks complete the process of enrollment because our goal is that,
I think actually, sorry, I recall right now we have 90% of our uninsured
patients have gone through the process of health insurance screening.
So they either have health insurance or they're enrolled in NYC care.
The people who don't, there are many different barriers that go into that.
Maybe they're looking for documents they couldn't find.
And it's a process of engagement where we're reaching out to folks.
Every time they come to an appointment, we remind them and encourage them to get in touch with our financial counselors who are well-trained to guide people through that process.
And it's also...
Importantly for I think this 10% of folks who haven't gone through the health insurance screening process to get enrolled in either insurance or NYC care is some folks need that extra support.
And we also rely on our community-based organizations to walk people through the process to make sure they feel the reassurance that we're there to take care of them no matter what.
And this is just a matter of making sure they get all the benefits that they are entitled to or eligible for.
Thank you.
