Narcisse presses on NYC Care enrollment capacity; Long gives 15,000-20,000 figure
Narcisse presses for NYC Care's current enrollment capacity. Long explains that if every primary care panel were filled at 1,750 patients per provider, H&H could take in 15,000 to 20,000 patients today.
A follow-up question for me.
Do you think, I mean, what's the capacity that actually of enrollment that you can endure right now with the resources that you have?
So today we could take in on the level of tens of thousands of new patients to New York City Health and Hospitals.
Now that's not exclusively NYC care, but that's what the teams that we have today.
So seeing that this is something that's going to be coming up on the horizon, we are seeking to do everything we can.
To make our system strong, the program strong, and build as much capacity as we can.
But we do think that there's going to be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of New Yorkers that maybe it's not for the full year, but are going to be affected by these coverage disruptions and would benefit from enrolling in the NYC Care program going forward.
I just want to be specific.
What's the structure capacity that you have in NYC Care right now?
Approximately.
You don't have to be specific.
Actually, give me a range of what you can actually absorb.
Well, so the, I can be specific, but it's to a little bit of a broader question.
So we look at capacity for the primary care capacity we have across New York City Health and Hospitals.
So the simple math is if I filled, remember I said earlier in my test,
that we have a panel size of 1,750 patients per primary care doctor, per 1.0 FT, very precise.
If we filled everybody's panel so that every panel for every primary care provider would be full, we could take in 15,000, 20,000 patients today.
So it's not infinite, it's not zero, and that's something that we're going to seek to strengthen as we go forward.
Okay.
