Brewer frames reporting-review bills as good government
Brewer says the Council should periodically review reporting mandates to ensure data is timely, relevant, and not duplicative. She describes Intros 1127, 1128, and 1129 as good-government bills and thanks committee and personal staff.
I also want to highlight the three good government bills we are hearing today.
It is important to the city to reevaluate the local laws that it passes, especially those that require city agencies to collect and report out data.
Reviewing and making sure that the information we receive is timely, relevant, and worth the burden is an exercise in good government.
And where we can repeal unnecessary duplicative or outdated reporting requirements, it makes it all the more worth it.
With that in mind, we are hearing intro 1127, as I said earlier, sponsored by Councilmember Williams, who will make a statement in a minute,
and then amends and eliminates certain reporting requirements within the city charter and the admin code.
Intro 1128, sponsored by Williams, amends the due dates of agency reports to the council.
1129 amends agency transmissions of reports of compliance with operational requirements.
I want to thank the following council staff for their work.
work on this hearing from government ops committee staff, Johari Frazier, Erica Cohen, and Sigmil Humad, and from my staff, Shuler Puder and Cynthia Horning.
I think we'll now hear from Councilmember Wynn, but I also want to mention Councilmembers Wang, and I did mention Councilmember Moran earlier, but he had gone to get some coffee at the time.
I think that's it.
Okay.
We'd love to hear from you, Councilmember Williams.
