Wilson asks how city measures whether ad campaigns reach intended communities
Wilson asks how the city measures campaign reach and whether ethnic media ads increase awareness or use of city services. Sidahmed says he wants impact stories beyond traditional metrics and that media placement agencies handle campaign-level measurement.
Thank you, Chair.
And again, echo my colleagues in congratulating you.
Your appointment.
Thank you.
We're touching on this, but how does the city measure whether its advertising campaigns are actually reaching the communities they're intended to serve?
And does the mayor's office track whether advertising in ethnic and community media leads to greater awareness of use of city services?
Thank you so much for that question.
And I think that's really one of the goals that I would like to lay out in the vision for this office is those stories of impact that you're looking for and that you're mentioning.
So I would love to work with publishers to uplift stories of impact where, you know, publishing and advertising campaign around vaccinations with the publisher actually led to more Pakistani New Yorkers getting vaccinated.
If the publishers can really, we can move beyond the kind of traditional metrics that I think a lot of brands might use for measuring their campaigns.
But on the individual campaign fronts, I think that the media placement agencies are really responsible for working with the agencies on that.
But I think my office can play a really great role in making just a broader case for the importance and the value and the impact of community and ethnic media.
