Chair Lee Questions World Cup and Neighborhood Passport Initiative
Chair Linda Lee concludes the hearing by asking about MOIA's role in the upcoming World Cup and the launch of the New York City Neighborhood Passport initiative.
I want to be in that elevator.
Combining time talk and spirits of ideas I'm gonna stay stake out the elevators now.
We will be in communication there's a lot more I had 11 pages of questions obviously um so you know I know um but you know it it is extremely complex as you know there's many layers to it many subdivisions and and um answers that I I really wanted to get in terms of the executive budget it's it's difficult to go through and make sure that we properly are supporting each and every aspect of it.
I'm gonna continue to fight for as much as I can on my end and I hope that internally you're for fighting for um our immigrant neighbors I know you are and I'm actually really really impressed with some of the stuff that I've seen so far and some of the answers to the question thank you for being so prepared.
I'm gonna give it over now to my co-chair.
I want to just say thank you to the chair for being a fighter um and and whatever questions I'm happy to um have a follow up conversation with you just so you can get the answers.
All right, thank you.
Okay.
Thank you.
Actually, um, since we have like two minutes, um, one final question that's more fun about the World Cup that's happening right now this year.
But um, just out of curiosity, because we have so many great small businesses, immigrant-owned parts of our city, especially Queens.
I mean, I think the Queen's council members fight over who has the better food in their district.
But um we we, you know, we know that this is coming up, and so just was curious to know.
Um, I know that the mayor's office is launching New York City neighborhood passport, and so are you guys working with them at all to encourage folks to explore a lot of different neighborhoods in the city and get out there and I'm glad to end on a fun note.
Yeah, New York City Neighborhood Passport is a a citywide program it launches in on June eleventh.
Um and the idea is to encourage New Yorkers to visit um and explore the five boroughs and many of the immigrant neighborhoods that make this city um so great.
Um participants are collecting uh artist design stamps um from hundreds of community organizations and cultural institutions and public events from dance performances and film screenings.
It's really a great opportunity for the community to get involved and in and explore um our great city.
Great.
And um if you want recommendations from all of us in terms of which restaurants are the best in our area, let us know.
Add it to a list.
Okay, so yeah, and I think with that we are done for the day.
So thank you so much, Commissioner and everyone else for being here.
Oh just a reminder about the public hearing.
Oh, yeah, so just what la and again public hearing Wednesday, June tenth.
Make sure everyone signs up.
So thank you so much, everyone, and that concludes our third day of hearings.
Thank you, Chair.
