Chair Stevens Questions Child Protective Services Vacancies
Chair Althea Stevens asks about the current number of vacancies within the child protective services division and whether any positions were eliminated as part of savings.
The executive plan includes a budget headcount of 300 385 for protective service areas.
How many vacancies are there currently in this program?
Um, I'm gonna do a couple of questions.
Were any vacancies in this program area limited as part of the mayor's savings?
If so, how many and why?
I'm gonna turn that over to Deputy Commissioner Linares.
Hi again.
Um, so we have the contract capacity for family support uh model again is 4,512.
Uh, know that that's about 44% of our total capacity, which is 10,637.
Um in April, again, we had a total of three 3,347 families that were participating in this services.
So we have over a thousand contractors slot capacity uh to serve families in the family support programs.
That doesn't account uh for the other programs that we have available in the boroughs.
We do not anticipate that any of the families will be wait listed.
And we've until there's a different reasons why there are some vacancies.
So we've taken steps to increase utilization.
We have worked closely with uh DHS and NYCHA to make sure that we are in the community.
We do things like Family Day and invite prevention providers to the table so that they can connect with families in an effort to make sure that their utilization is increased.
Hence I think we have you can see an increase in our community referrals where we've gone up to about uh from last year, the same time about 20%.
Were you also asking?
Sorry.
