Chair Stevens Questions Proactive Planning for Federal Literacy Cuts
Chair Althea Stevens asks about proactive planning to address potential federal cuts to adult literacy and English Language Learner programs.
No, I I think we we missed it, it was right before this one.
Um, but um I think I think what's important to note here is obviously um there is an RFP that has challenges that came out in 24.
We're gonna continue to ask critical questions around re-looking at that RFP for what we knew were the consequences were gonna be, and in fact, played out that we continue to invest in adult literacy services.
So even with the expansion, it's still woefully underfunded and uh uh uh a critical service.
Um, and I think uh we see that field is also under attack by the federal government.
So, what I would really like to see is like some proactive planning around understanding some of that money being uh swept away and our city being prepared to step in that gap.
So thank you.
