Council Member Marte Inquires About Recourse and Transition Support
Council Member Christopher Marte asks what recourse is available if new providers fail to meet community needs and requests a detailed debriefing on the scoring of local programs.
And my last question, I know I'm out of time here, is if there's a chance to re-evaluate these decisions, and we're signing up for a six-year RFP.
So if these programs are not meeting the needs of the community, for example, uh in this case, there are scopes of services like sports, arts, or academic enrichment that the prior provider did offer that the new provider does not, which can be very disruptive for the youth and the families, and that's who I'm representing today.
What's the recourse on the line?
I want to say two things.
The first is that I know how resilient young people are and how adaptable they are to change.
And I also know how uh responsive providers are to children, youth, and families, and how they will tailor their services to meet the needs of young people.
Yes, it is a new process.
Yes, there will be an on-ramp, but I believe that at the end of this that there will be responsive services that center young people, and yet if they do not, like any other process at DYCD, we will take the necessary course of action.
Um just really quickly.
Um, I know you guys said that you're gonna be doing a briefing with the providers um and a debrief around the folks who weren't viable.
Can you please make sure you share that information with us um and also let us know when that's happening so um we can possibly participate in support?
