Deputy Speaker Williams Questions DYCD on Racial Equity Plan Budget
Deputy Speaker Nantasha Williams asks if any of the goals identified in DYCD's preliminary racial equity plan require specific budgetary actions or allocations.
Thank you.
Great.
Okay, deputy speaker, followed by council member Epstein.
Um thank you, Chair Oh wait, uh oh, Deputy Speaker first, followed by thank you.
Um I'm gonna ask some questions about the racial equity plans.
Um recently the administration released a preliminary report on the plan.
The plan included input from many city agencies, including your own.
Um could you just share with us if any of the goals that you have identified have any um budgetary um actions?
Yes.
Um tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth before this committee and respond honestly to council member questions.
Yes.
You may begin.
Good afternoon.
I'm Denise Ramirez and I serve as the chief equity inclusion officer here at DYCD.
Um, yes, there are budget implications for our uh goals and our strategies, but the way we've approached this is to incorporate it into our operations.
Um we have a goal on capacity building, that's part of the budget for this year.
We have the equity methodology, which is will be integrated into the RFPs as we move forward.
So it is integrated into how we approach the work.
Thank you.
