Council Member Wong Questions ACS on Headquarters Relocation
Council Member Phil Wong asks for an update on the relocation of ACS headquarters from 150 William Street to 110 William Street and the benefits of the new space.
Great.
Uh one recognize we've been joined by um Councilmember Wrestler, Majority Leader Brayu, Councilmember Gutierrez, and we are going to start off with Council Member Wong, followed by Councilmember Shulman.
Thank you, Chair.
Um I would like to start about the relocation of your headquarters.
Um when did the process begin and what is do you have an update on that?
As the last sole employee at 150, um, I'll try to answer that question.
Um we are by the end of May, all staff um, or by the end of the day today, all staff will have moved out of 150 William Street.
I got special exemption to stay through the hearing.
Um and um by the end of June we'll be fully out of 150 William Street.
Our new headquarters is at 110 William Street.
It's not fully complete.
Can you explain about the move?
Like what's is there something?
Is there issues with the current headquarters?
Um talk, please talk about it.
So we had been in the current headquarters for about 30 years.
Um the new headquarters is a much more family, it has been um intentionally developed to be more family friendly and to better meet the needs of the work we do.
So there are a lot of family meeting rooms, there are um like a beautiful new um playroom for kids, the new office of advocacy is much more family friendly.
It was just developed in a different time.
Um, and so I don't know all the details.
I wasn't personally involved in the details to relocate, but um have been part of some of the like not it wasn't ULERP, but the uh city planning process.
So I know a bit about um sort of the idea was that this new location would better meet meet our needs for staff and for families.
Okay, thank you.
