Chair Ung Q&A: Garcia on time commitment for working group
Ung questions whether Garcia can balance DEP commissioner duties with the working group's demands. Garcia confirms she can, noting other commissioners are also appointed and praising her 6,000-person DEP team.
And pursuant to local law 56 of 2026, individuals initially appointed to serve on the board of directors of the land bank shall serve as a working group
to prepare the necessary application for approval from the state in relation to establishment of the land bank.
The task of preparing application could place significant demands on your time and attention and must be completed in a specific time frame.
While serving as the commissioner of DEP, do you believe you'll be able to commit to the appropriate time and attention necessary to fulfill the duties of the working group?
Yes, I do think that I'll be able to fulfill the mission and working with the other members of the board.
I think that we'll all, as you know, there's other commissioners appointed.
I think that this is a really important task that we'll dedicate time to and make sure we come up with the correct design.
and make the recommendations.
And on the other hand, I have to say I have a great team over at the Department of Environmental Protection, almost 6,000 people.
So it's a really good balance of being able to depend on those experts and professionals when I am in a meeting or like here at a hearing.
So thank you.
Thank you.
