Aldebol asks about Legionnaires and emergency hiring
Aldebol notes DOHMH hired quickly for Legionnaires; Porter says DCAS is streamlining and reducing time, with some lists established within 90 days.
I know that we had a hearing on Legionnaires and DOHMH Commissioner
said that
They got authorization to hire in November, or they got the budgeted headcount in November, and they were able to hire before.
The summer, which was, I would say, roughly six, seven months, which is a much shorter time frame, still quite long, but a much shorter time frame to get people hired.
It was, I guess, an emergency situation.
How does that happen?
And we can't seem to do that for other technical titles like that one.
You know, our goal is to continue to look for ways to streamline and expedite, you know, the hiring process.
And we're doing that through, you know, reviewing our technology and, you know, figuring out ways to move things faster.
I will say that I'm proud of the DCAS team and how we've been able to reduce the time between exam administration and.
And a list establishment.
In some cases, we're establishing lists within 90 days.
So police officer, we have a standard there where within 120 days, less than 120 days, that list is available to the agency, you know, to hire.
In addition, I would also
add that
that there are opportunities for agencies to leverage data.
So the data that comes along with the process, the applicant pool, right?
So like at the end of the application period, if an agency has an immediate hiring, immediate need to hire, we can share that information with them to help expedite their recruitment process.
So, you know, we're always looking for ways.
I will say that there is room for improvement and we're committed to doing so.
