Aldebol asks about Local Law 192 and advertisement impact
Aldebol asks which advertising modes are most impactful; Otar says they ask applicants how they heard, but responses may be unreliable and timing delays make it hard to measure.
Thank you.
Local Law 192 of 2025 requires DCAST to expand its promotion of civil service exams.
particularly through LinkNYC, Kia, social media, agency websites, advertisements, TV, radio.
Of these models, of these modes of advertisement, are you able to gather information on which forms of advertisements has been more impactful?
So I guess the question is, when people apply for jobs, do you ask them, how did you hear about this?
Yes, we do have a question on our applications where we ask people how they find out about it.
But one of the things that with our programming, the timing, it's usually not an immediate response, right?
Because we may provide information about the civil service exams or the jobs, but because of that process, it may be a couple of months later or another year later before we can see the results from those advertisements.
And we do have the opportunity for somebody to say, hey, we heard from it from our social media.
I mean, there may be opportunities to update that list.
But normally what we see when people respond to that is going to be the very first thing that's on that list.
That's what they're going to respond to.
So it's not necessarily a reliable source to show exactly where people are finding out about the jobs or the exams.
I kind of agree or disagree.
No, I think it's helpful to know what's the most impactful, you know, way of getting information out to people so that you can then prioritize.
Oh, absolutely.
Absolutely.
What we're seeing is, let's say if we have a list of people of how people find out about the job.
And number one is like I heard from a colleague.
Sometimes that's what individuals select.
But we still look and, you know, there's an opportunity for us to go back and see within the last couple of months, what does that look like?
But we often see that people just gravitate to the first option that's on the list.
