Aldebol asks about time to establish and certify lists

New York City Council · Sep 22, 2026 · starts 0:36:46 · 45 sec

Aldebol asks about the timeline from exam to hire; Porter says median time from exam to list establishment is 101 days, and hiring depends on agency need.

Shirley Aldebol

And generally speaking, how long does it take to establish a list and then certify the list and actually get people hired off the list?

Katrina Porter

So that's a great question.

Katrina Porter

If we look at the data, right, if we look at the mayor's management report, where we have a metric that measures the time between when we administer an exam to when an exam is established, right now we're under target.

Katrina Porter

We have a median time of 101 days between exam administration and establishment.

Katrina Porter

Now, once the list is established,

Katrina Porter

It would depend upon the agency's, you know, need to hire.

Katrina Porter

That would determine how quickly those lists move.
